Forced update, kids’ mode & LGBTQIA+

Pop quiz: What do the two screengrabs above have in common?

The most recent “forced update” from Microsoft was thrust upon unsuspecting users of its Edge browser a few days ago. This update touted new features, juxtaposing (apparently without a sense of irony) the introduction of “Kids Mode” (tagline: A safer space for your child to discover the web) with “Pride Themes” featuring colorful swishy patterns labeled with sexual preferences like, “pansexual” or “neutrois” or “abrosexual” – (no, I am *not* making those up!) but neglecting to mention “heterosexual” or “celibate” as options. Guess those “orientations” aren’t anything to be “proud” of, although, since “No one chooses zer gender, just zer pronouns” I don’t see why your average cisgender schlub shouldn’t be just as proud as your average genderfluid schliemiel.

Like typical lost liberals, the better-than-thou employees of Microsoft never considered that one of the many reasons they need a “safer space” browser for their children is due to their celebration and promotion of this ridiculous 32-flavors of sexual deviancy (and counting…)

This will not end well. As the old saying holds: “Pride goeth before a fall.”
